Multi-functional Garden Room - Verwood, Dorset
PROJECT OVERVIEW
A superb Garden Room has been designed and built for our clients in Verwood.
Measuring 7.5m x 4.5m (33.75sqm), this project has been tailored to meet the client’s specific requirements for multifunctional accommodation. We worked closely with the family to ensure the design made the best use of the garden space, delivering a living space that would be both comfortable and practical.
This two-room annexe contains a spacious main room that incorporates a bespoke kitchenette, as well as a separate shower room. A valuable feature is the airing cupboard, which houses a 125L pressurised stored water cylinder, ensuring a consistent flow of hot water even when the main house is in use. The annexe is a versatile addition to the property, creating independent living space for family members while also enhancing the overall functionality of the house.
The internal layout has been thoughtfully arranged to create a light and airy living space. The main living space is enhanced by a corner configuration of glazing, which includes a single door flanked by tall fixed windows and a pair of tall windows with top openers wrapping around the corner. This feature floods the room with natural light and provides a seamless connection to the garden. The second room has picture-style windows that frame views of the garden.
Full electrical connections include WiFi, LED downlights, power sockets, external lights, smoke alarms and heating.
We use quality materials and finishes to ensure a stylish and comfortable interior. The walls are fully plastered and painted for a clean, contemporary look, and the floor is finished with Quickstep laminate flooring, chosen for both its durability and aesthetic appeal. The windows and doors with integral blinds within the sealed units provide a practical, dust-free way to control light and heat, operated via a magnetic control bar.
Externally, the annexe is clad in black Cedral cement fibre boards, creating a striking contrast to the natural colours of the garden. This contemporary composite cladding is maintenance-free, ideal for modern family life where time for upkeep is limited. The black colour palette is both bold and elegant, acting as a foil for the greenery around it, and the windows and doors in matching black complete the stylish exterior.
We provide a complete turnkey service, taking care of all the essential services and groundworks. This annexe features reinforced concrete foundations, and trenching was undertaken to run the water supply, armoured electric cables, foul pipes, and a Cat6 data cable, ensuring that the annexe is fully equipped for modern living. The drainage and connections have been approved by Building Control, and the building complies with Schedule 2 of the Building Regulations 2010, emphasising its status as a permanent structure.
We handle every stage of the project, for a stress free experience.
